The Men’s Shed has the ability to develop a safe and happy environment where men are welcome to work on a project of their choice, in their own time, and where the only ‘must’ is to observe safe working practices. It’s not just what we do but how we do it that counts.
Is an updated version of the shed in the backyard that has long been a part of Australian culture and have sprung up all around the country. Many men, especially after retirement, find themselves alone, often living in isolation and needing to connect with their community and find a new purpose but aren’t sure how. Others just want to learn a new skill or revisit old ones. If you look inside you might see several men restoring furniture, perhaps restoring bicycles for a local school, maybe fixing lawn mowers or making a kid’s cubby house for Camp Quality to raffle. All learning new skills and maybe also learning something about life from the men they work with. You will see tea bags, coffee cups and a comfortable area where men can sit and talk. If you would like to visit and have a tour please wear covered footwear.
The mission of the Men’s Shed is to provide a safe and secure facility, where men can exchange ideas, discuss any issues, engage in manual or social activities, and pass on life long knowledge and work skills to others. Giving assistance to other community groups and organisations in their efforts for improvement is a priority.

The Men’s Shed can always use good working tools, equipment, materials and other donated items to benefit projects for the community. We are currently building a heavy equipment shed adjacent to our existing shed that will be put to good use. Please give us a call to discuss your intended donation. With a collective commitment to the welfare of our community that brings together individuals who share a common mission, and by provides a meeting place where men can find social support and camaraderie.
A BIG thank you to Redland City Councillors Tracey Huges and Rowanne McKenzie for the community benefit fund grant that allowed the Mens Shed to purchase a new laser engraving machine. It has already been and will be used a lot for our projects.
Goods new or refurbished are all sold on Facebook Marketplace.
Many times a year the Men’s Shed host a sausage sizzle at Capalaba Bunnings. Come along and say hello to the team. Sausages on bread and a cold drink is always available. Check the calendar for dates.
